Microsoft has already updated the naming and now simply calls it \u201cOutlook\u201d. The old client is called \u201cOutlook Classic\u201d and is currently scheduled to be retired in mid-2029. The original retirement date was planned for 2026. The new Outlook offers several significant advantages<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It is fast, lightweight and functional, and fits seamlessly into Microsoft\u2019s new app ecosystem<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ts minimal reliance on local caching helps prevent local drives from filling up. There are no more OST files<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The new web-based plugin and add-in model is simple, transparent and powerful. The add-ins already available work flawlessly<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We like the \u201cnew Outlook\u201d and have been using it exclusively within our business for over 18 months, with positive results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We recommend simply trying the \u201cnew Outlook\u201d to see whether it meets your needs.<br>Common showstoppers include<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>COM add-ins for other business applications, such as ERP systems<br>You should press the vendor to provide an updated solution and draw their attention to the retirement date<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The new Outlook\u2019s limited support for PST files<br>If you use these as part of your backup strategy, it may be time to reconsider that strategy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Changes to contact management.
